HOW TO PREPARE FOR SSC EXAMS

STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION popularly known as the SSC exam is
conducted to recruit candidates into various organizations,
departments, departments, offices under the Government of India. It is a
national level examination conducted by SSC for recruitment of
various Group B and Group C positions. The Staff Selection
Commission was established in 1975 and after that, it is still
conducting exams though it went through various changes like mode
of examination was changed from offline (OMR) based to online to
bring transparency. The second was in the pattern to add descriptive
portion (essay writing). Both these changes took place in 2016. But
on 19th August 2021 in of the most historic move the Union Cabinet
has approved NRA CET i.e., The National Recruitment Agency (NRA)
to conduct the Common Eligibility Test (CTET) for various
Government exams (non-gazetted posts) for Banking, SSC and
Railways. So, from now onwards a single CET exam for means a
single CET exam for Government Jobs will be held for IBPS, SSC, and
RRB as Tier 1. This single common entrance examination for all non gazetted posts (Group B and C) will completely change the
Government job recruitment process. The CET score will remain valid
for three years (however, you can take CET every year in order to
improve your CET score), and based on your score you can apply for
your desired Banking, SSC & Railways recruitment for a higher level
of exam. A single entrance test will be conducted in three
categories;10th Pass, 12th Pass, and Graduate Level CET exams. This
change is going to start all over the country from early 2022 as
announced by the government so candidates need to keep
themselves updated and talking about the syllabus it has been not
announced yet. So, for now, the candidates can prepare accordingly
to the syllabus which is going on. Now, in this article, we are going to
give all of u a brief idea on how to prepare for SSC exams which is still in the process if there is any update, we shall let all of u know
about it.

Eligibility

Before filling the SSC exam application form, candidates must fulfill
the following eligibility norms:
SSC Nationality/ Citizenship criteria:
A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India
or (b) a subject of Nepal
or (c) a subject of Bhutan
or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st
January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India
or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan,
Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the
United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),
Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of
permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e)
above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has
been issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit Criteria

The age requirements are between 18 and 30 years. The age limits
may vary depending on the position applied. For instance, the
position for Inspector of Central Bureau of Narcotics which had an
age range from 18 to 27 years, was extended to 30 years in September 2018. Age mentioned in the applicant’s 10th/12th
a certificate will be considered.

Application Fees

The application fee, for now, is Rs. 100. All women candidates and
candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Physically
Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are
exempted from paying the application fee.

TYPES OF SSC EXAMS

The SSC administers tests such as:
SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level Exam),
SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam),
SSC CPO (Central Police Organization),
SSC JE (Junior Engineer),
SSC GD (General Duty),
SSC MTS (Multitasking Staff),
SSC Stenographer and more.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

The SSC examination has several tiers which are conducted over
different days with results posted after each tier. Previous exams
also included an interview tier, but following a government order,
interviews have been dispensed with for all non-gazetted posts in
the central government as of 1 January 2016. A computer proficiency
test or a skill test was also added as a tier for some posts. There are
four major tiers for the 2018 exam.
Tier I: PreliminaryThe Tier I exam consists of a written objective multiple-choice exam with four sections, covering the subjects of:
General Intelligence and Reasoning
General Awareness
Quantitative Aptitude
English Comprehension

The exam was typically scored with a maximum of 50 Marks per section
for a total of 200 Marks. The latest versions of this exam such as with
2018 has been conducted online.
Based on results from Tier I, qualified candidates can then take the
Tier-II and Tier III exams.
Tier II: Mains Exam
Also known as the Mains Exam, the Tier II exam consists of written
objective multiple-choice exam, in four sections (also called
“Papers”), covering the subjects of:
Quantitative Aptitude
English Language and Comprehension
Statistics
General Studies, which is subdivided into:
Finance & Accounting
Economics & Governance.
The exam was typically scored with maximum of 200 Marks per section.
Most positions required the candidate to take only the first two
sections (Paper-I: Quantitative Aptitude, Paper-II: English Language
and Comprehension), but certain positions require the third or
fourth section. The latest versions of this exam such as 2018
the edition has been conducted online. Tier III exam: Descriptive Paper
A pen-and-paper “offline” exam in which candidates are to do
writing in the form of essay writing and letter writing, and sometimes
précis and application writing. The exam can be done in English or
Hindi any language can be chosen as per the candidate’s choice.
Tier IV exam: Data Entry Skill Test / Computer Proficiency Test
In 2016, a fourth tier was added with two possible exams depending
on the positions applied:
Data Entry Speed Test (DEST): candidates enter data at the rate of
2000 key presses in 15 minutes. This is mainly for positions such as
Tax Assistant. (Central Excise & Income Tax)
Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): covering the topics of word
processing, spreadsheets, and making slides.
